Christine Nikander will be supporting the Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV) of the European Commission as a legal expert in circular economy, sustainability, and waste management over the coming 4 years. She is a member of the consortium that has been selected by DG ENV for the “Framework Contract on the Circular Economy and Waste to Resources”.
The aim of the framework contract is to support and improve the knowledge base of DG ENV in the area of circular economy and resource waste, specifically with respect to certain European Union environmental laws. The laws that fall within the scope of the framework contract include the Waste Framework Directive, the Landfill Directive, the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, the Batteries Regulation, the End-of-Life Vehicle Directive, Directive on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, the Sewage Sludge Directive, and the proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
